These addons add unit frame and nameplate functionality that exists in Retail but was not present in Classic. It's up to the individual player to decide how they wish to approach it. In the spirit of recognizing that everyone has a different view of the "Classic experience", I have reviewed mods ranging from tiny improvements on the native classic UI all the way up to one powerful mod that was not available in classic and is being classified as "controversial". Personally, I have used mods right from the beginning when I started playing a few months after launch, and remember how many of the mods were even more automated than they are today! That's a question that I leave up to you. Mods have been around since the beginning of WoW, but there is no doubt that there is a great philosophical debate about whether using some of these mods breaks the "Classic experience". If I had to spend more than a few minutes even figuring out how to launch it, it ended up in the "too buggy" pile. So were mods that are lightweight and require little to no system research. Mods that were easy to understand, set up, and use were given high marks. Nearly all the mods apply to world PvP situations the battlegrounds limitation only matters because a few mods that are specific to those (i.e. Since this guide is being written after the release of Warsong Gulch and Alterac Valley, but before the release of Arathi Basin, I was only able to test in these battlegrounds. I tested these mods on characters of varying levels. If you have any suggestions of ones I should test or possibly re-test, please leave a comment with the name and link to the mod in question. *I tried to test them all but I am sure I missed a few. There was another mod in the same niche that I felt did a better job.The mod was not working properly at the time it was tested, and/or was throwing a bunch of errors.There are many reasons why a mod might not have made the cut, including but not limited to: I tested many, many more PvP mods than made this guide. This treatment is not going to cover many popular addons that are useful in PvP as well as being useful in PvE but rather will focus primarily on those addons with a strong PvP element. There are some categories where there are multiple entries and you may prefer one over another. This list is meant to be a starting point, but feel free to experiment with other addons to see what might work better for you. While "Best" is a loaded term, and what may work well for one player may not work for another, in this guide, I'll go over the most popular Classic PvP addons and highlight their benefits.
